FOSSIL Eco-Tech
Fossil Eco-Tech is a project within my ongoing project FOSSIL, a project based on stone, where I research the material both acoustically, performatively and sculpturally.
FOSSIL and Fossil Eco-Tech aims to create a deeper and broadened relation to stone, as a being worth respecting and venerating, and through sound opening up a space to connect to the stone in a sonic dimension.
Within Fossil Eco-Tech I research methods to create a transcendent sonic and ceremonial space together with stone. Through the help and integration of technology, my body and the stones become one instrument, creating an immersive sound experience.
FOSSIL Eco-Tech is to be presented both as a concert-installation and as a durational ceremony-performance, going on for an extended time.
I collaborate with programmer and soft- and hardware developer Fredrik Olofson, who is creating custom made sensors for wireless control of additional software to be included in my set-up. My instrument consists of 300 kg of limestone and sandstone from Öland, (island in the Baltic sea, south of Sweden) and diabase (black granite) kindly donated from Sliperiet i Gylsboda (diabase workshop in Småland). The set-up also includes DPA condenser microphones, handmade contact mics by sound researcher Jez Riley French and wireless Sennheiser system.
FOSSIL Eco-Tech is funded by Viriditas Foundation and developed during residency periods at Handenterminalen Konst, (Stockholm) Milvus Artistic Research Center (Knisslinge) within the project Satelliter by Fylkingen, and Galleri Alaoui (Öland).
The work is in progress during 2025 and performance presentation date TBA.
